Mug Adventures: Cedar Mountain Loop, Newington, CTThis is a nice little hike tucked right above suburbia in Newington, CT. I found it a little difficult to find the trail head as the parking was at the Newington's Humane Society. But with a little wandering along the woods behind the building you could find the trailhead. It was nice to get this great view on area without much an elevation climb. As you can tell from the image above I was most enamored by the beauty of the leaves that had already fallen.
What do you collect? For me I love bringing back a piece of nature as my souvenirs; such as a rock or a sea shell (only from parks where that is allowed). I typically add these items to the landscaping of rock gardens around my yard.
Mug Adventures: Quarry Park, Rocky Hill, ConnecticutSome areas of Connecticut are in full swing colors of fall Foliage. Get yourself out to Quarry Park, and enjoy this overlook onto the fall colors. There is a sweet bench at this overlook for enjoying a cup of coffee as well.
No better way to celebrate National Coffee Day than supporting your local roaster. I celebrated with a lavender honey latte from The Coffee Pedaler in New Haven, CT.
Maple, the best studio dog and adventure buddy that I could have wished for.I'm so grateful for my dog maple. She is the perfect mix of lazy and energetic. She is cool with sleeping for hours on end in my studio or hopping in the car to go off on an adventure. There is no dog I would rather take a break with to drink my coffee or tea.

The best place to scamper around rock formation in Colorado Springs. The Garden of the Gods are these amazing rock formations beneath Pikes Peak in Colorado Springs. This park is for everyone. As you might expect, it's a really busy park. If possible, I recommend going early in the morning on a week day. An additional perk of early mornings is that the colors are spectacular during a sunrise as the rocks seem redder! You can enjoy the park via the road that circles around these formations, or on the wheel chair accessible paths, and smaller trails that take you more intimately by the rock formations. These rocks are a lot of fun to scamper around, and they do allow climbing by permit as well. It really is like nature's jungle gym as there are so many boulders climb on. Garden of the Gods is a small park. So enjoy not needing a map, and wandering among these amazing rock formations. This park is less about going for many mile long hike as the areas surrounding the rock formations is grasslands, and suburbia. Granted some of those trails in the grassy area do allow you to get back from the amazing rock formations for some breath taking views of them.
Favorite Restaurant in |
My husband went on a work trip to San Diego recently and made it over to our favorite restaurant Sugar and Scribe where he ordered this fabulous drink served in a Lisa York Arts mugs and an amazing breakfast. The second best part about coming to this restaurant is getting to walk over to La Jolla Cove where all the seals and sea lions hang out. My husband even witnessed a seal giving birth. |
