Ceramics Art ExhibitionFeaturing a pair of ceramics showcasing one displayed right side up, and the other upside down to showcase the bottoms of the wares. I had two cups selected to be a part of the exhibition. Entry 1: Tea CupEntry 2: TumblerJuror's Statement:"First I want to thank you all for submitting work to the Bottoms Up exhibition, but more importantly commend you all for making my task as juror extremely difficult and challenging. The work submitted reflected a wide variety of technique, form and expression, consistent however was the craftsmanship of the works all showing the wonderful diversity that our media can offer. As a maker in the “Mud Militia” I know the incredible satisfaction and sometimes disappointment our journeys in clay result in, and I enjoyed seeing how each of you approached the design challenges we all encounter developing our forms. It was an extremely daunting task deciding what works could fit the gallery space and most of all the theme of this show. With that in mind I tried to select pieces that first caught my interest on the bottom and then considered the appeal of the rest of the piece. I think the 22 pairs of pots selected for this exhibition are fantastic examples of what good design and craftsmanship can look like. I commend you all for your unique and interesting approaches to design and functionality. I hope we can discuss and appreciate the works together, in person, at the reception and wish you all the best in your continued explorations in the mud. Bottoms up!" –The Mud Monkey Info on seeing the Exhibit:Location:
