How to make a floral arrangement with crocuses in bud vases.Bud vases are the perfect form to make floral arrangements with crocus because a crocus's stems are really short. I also love the diversity of colors of the crocus. I picked these white and purple crocuses from my yard, and they make the perfect flower arrangement for Easter! 1. Asymmetric Flower ArrangmentThis is my favorite way to arrange flowers in some sort of asymmetrical balance. See how that single white flower becomes the focal point in the flowers. 2. Dome Flower ArrangmentThis is where you get all the heights of the flowers to make a perfect domed shape. This dome shape is so voluptuous. 3. Fan Flower ArrangementSimilar to the dome shape except that the fan is wider than it is tall. I like how in this example the flowers span out farther than the width of the vase. 4. Pyramid Flower ArrangementThe pyramid is a triangular shaped flower arrangement. It can be fun to play with the shape of the triangle as well, and how tall of a peak the flowers could make. All the bud vases were made by yours truly, Lisa York.Ps. I will be running a giveaway this week. You have a chance to win this bud vase by jumping on my email list; see side by to sign up. Photographer: Vera YorkI feel totally spoiled to have another artist in the family. My sister Vera York is an amazing photographer, and a great cook as you can see in the images! A statement about slow living:"Being raised with a chaotic and less to normal childhood, anxiety got the best of me throughout my life. As I aged it got worse, I always felt overwhelmed by noise, visual stimulus, or being with a lot of people. I started to realize that I needed to find tactics for myself to help my mental state. This is where slowing down came to be in my life. It’s a learning process but has made a huge change for my mental health and overall well being." -Vera York I would highly encourage you to check out more of Vera's Photography and words of encouragement she shares on her instagram page Simple_Mentality. I’m literally talking about little things.Enjoy the little things in life and in this instance literally small things. This shot glass was the perfect sized bud vase for freshly picked crocus flowers! What a treat it was to have such lovely spring weather for our first official day of shelter in place yesterday. I spent part of the afternoon carving some garlic keeper jars on the front porch with my pooch. Fingers crossed for more nice weather and blue skies.

Fill a wood fired vase with Mums!Time to bring out the earth tones and warm colors for fall!
The warm shades of brown to yellow to red of my wood fire vases pair beautifully with a reddish earth-toned flowers for a fall bouquet. No flowers says fall better than mums. They are such a beautiful hardy flower that bloom in the fall. To complete the look of the bouquet and I added diversity to the texture and color with mini carnations and one statement flower...a Dahlia of course. Now make a hot cup of tea and enjoy the change of colors outdoors from green to warm colors. HOMEIn some ways home can be mobile... it’s wherever your with loved ones.
With that said, specific places are so filled with memories that that the will always have a special place in my heart. The grove in Maryland Is one of these memorable places. It’s where I had my first “real” job out of school, I met my husband there, and it was a place of peace and quiet for me. I’m grateful for happy places and memories. Eating off my pottery also brings me down memory lane. It’s like dining with friends and mentors, and memories of different phases of my art career.
